AMY MARKGRAF ・ 2025 Adjudicator
Amy Markgraf, a Professor of Dance and the Dance Education Program Coordinator at Utah Valley University, embarked on her dance journey with BYU Young DanceMakers. This early experience ignited her passion for creativity, exploration, and learning. Amy's academic journey includes a B.S. in Dance Education/Biology from Utah State University, an M.A. from Brigham Young University, and an MFA from the University of Utah.
As a dedicated educator and scholar, Amy teaches modern and contemporary techniques, dance pedagogy, and kinesiology. Her choreography has performed nationally and internationally, earning acclaim at events like the American College Dance Association Gala Concerts, Breaking Ground, Choreography Design Project, and other festivals. She has also presented at conferences such as NDEO, IADMS, and daCi.
Amy co-developed Body and Brain (B2), a dance-specific conditioning program with BYU's Kate Monson, and teaches Pilates. UVU has awarded Amy the Dean's Recognition Award for Scholarly Creative Work and the Faculty Teaching Excellence Award. She is the owner and instructor of Mapleton Dance Center. Amy walks her dogs, hangs with her family, and enjoys travel and Utah activities in her spare time.
