Modern

Modern began to emerge in the dance scene in the late 19th century. Its creation came from artists that were moved by the socioeconomic and cultural changes happening in the world, and as a rebellion against ballet. It’s technique may vary depending on influences and lineage, however, all styles of modern dance explore time, space, and energy and how the body can manipulates these elements. Our Guest Artists are accredited professionals that have danced or trained with leading modern dance companies across the country and are current leaders in Utah. Their classes will cultivate an exploration of these elements in supportive and open environment while dancers learning and problem solve tasks.
